New Zealand’s first Bitcoin vending machines are already up and running

New Zealand welcomed its first Bitcoin vending machines today. Two Lamassu devices were launched in Auckland by Bitto NZ this Monday (1), but the machines can be only by spotted in evens or used by appointment for now.

In other words, the vending machines won’t be available for the general public in the near future. “We don’t want to see them cash-out”, Bitto co-founder, Jonathan Ewing, told the NZ Herald.

“There’s other methods and ways for them to do that and we can point people in the right direction but we’re all about helping people get into Bitcoin”, he added.

These two vending machines will soon be part of a wider group of devices: Auckland will have six vending machines and two more will be placed in the country’s capital, Wellington.

However, one of these machines will be a true Bitcoin ATM, produced by the American company Robocoin.
