Buy music with Bitcoin: independent record laber Monstercat accepts cryptocurrency

The small record label Monstercat has started accepting Bitcoin for its music. The announcement was made by the independent company during this Monday (2).

“We were thinking about ways to help the Bitcoin economy and incentivize spending”, a representative of the music label wrote on Reddit. Apparently, the idea of accepting cryptocurrency was inspired by last week’s major event, the exclusive Bitcoin Black Friday.

Thanks to Coinbase, Monstercat can now accept your virtual coins for their music. The label represents artists like Pegboard Nerds, Rogue or Noisestorm, mainly creators with an electronic inspiration.

Monstercat now intends to further develop the project, according to their announcement. “Eventually we will have a full blown music store, this is just the beginning!”, the message added.

For now, the Bitcoiners can buy 15 albums, which come in the formats MP3 V0, MP3 320, FLAC, AAC, Ogg Vorbis and ALAC. In a near future, maybe Monstercat can also start accept Bitcoin for their merchandising, mainly inspired by the label’s original artwork.
