BtcTrip has a new business account and plans to launch three new services

BtcTrip, the online platform that allows you to buy plane tickets with your Bitcoins, is preparing to launch three new services. Bitcoin Examiner talked with the CEO Martin Fernandez and he told us that the startup “is moving to the next level” by developing the programs “Rent a Car & Hotel”, “BtcTrip Miles and Points” and “BtcTrip Surfing”.

While the first service is pretty self-explanatory, allowing users to rent cars and book hotels with Bitcoins, “BtcTrip Miles and Points” will offer discounts and free air tickets to regular clients. Finally, the program “BtcTrip Surfing” will be aimed to the community that usually travels to attend international events like ecological meeting, social forums, alternative entertainment, raves, spiritual journeys, world cups, hack and tech conferences and also… Bitcoin evens, of course.

As stated by the company’s CEO, “the future of BtcTrip lies in offering experiences and building the community of Bitcoiners who travel. We are working on a global events schedule where Bitcoiners can travel, get together and pay using Bitcoin. We want to be more than a website to book your flight, hotel and a car”.

After its launching in July, “BtcTrip has been received exceptionally well by the community”, says Martin Fernandez. After the first two weeks in business, the platform registered a boom in the business. “We started with a movement that will increase, day by day, by the enthusiastic comments and support from the Bitcoin community”, he adds, giving the example of a recent sale of a business class ticket from Bangalore to California for the birthday of a young Bitcoiner. “Every day we sell low-cost tickets, international tickets, tourist class and now we started business”.

The biggest explanation for this success might be the guarantee BtcTrip provides to its customers, a warranty based on the motto “Insanely Cheap Plane Tickets. Found it cheaper somewhere? We can beat any offer!”. The platform assures it’s “able to beat any offer by a system of Bitcoin trading, and no-fee for interbanking merchant. This is our killer marketing tool for the launch: if you have a Bitcoin, you can fly for less money than your friends with credit cards”.

Sure, it helps that “the major players like BitInstant or the Bitcoin Foundation” are helping to promote the company by getting tickets with BtcTrip, mainly thanks to their new business travel account. Charlie Shrem, BitInstant’s CEO, the Bitcoin Foundation, the Bitcoin Magazine editor or Al Jazeera network writers are just some of the people or institutions that already have one of these accounts at BtcTrip. “We were very concentrated into the Bitcoin ‘drivers’ as main focus”, says Martins Fernandez.

But besides the big personalities from the cryptocurrency world, the platform has already conquered “customers from all over the world, from the USA and Russia to Serbia and Hungary”. However, it’s the flights to and from the United States that definitely dominate BtcTrip’s sales. But to boost the business to and from other regions of the planet, the platform is also working on “offering low-cost flights in Europe and Australasia, a huge niche within the airfares market”.

The company might be focused on Bitcoin for now, but BtcTrip is “absolutely open for other cryptocurrencies and alternative payment gateways”, something that will probably also happen in a near future.
